Bishop Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos, “Homosexuality, if it is not a choice and not a disease, it is a gift given by God.”

“Our prejudices can not perceive the gift of God, just as it happened to the blacks, who were not seen as people because of prejudice.”

— Bishop Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos on homosexuality —

Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos, the Bishop of Caicó, Brazil.

Bishop Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos, just the other day gave a homily about homosexuality.  He begins it by lamenting the “high suicide rate among homosexuals” and proceeds to tell the sad story of a homosexual who blames himself for his mother’s death.  This anonymous homosexual revealed to his parents his sinful proclivity and shortly thereafter his mother was diagnosed with cancer from which she died.  Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos makes the allusion that she had been brainwashed by society to reject homosexuality and if she had accepted her son’s homosexuality that she would still be alive.  He then goes on to say, “the gospel demands love” no matter the person’s behavior and “the door is always open, God never close the door to anyone”.   He continues stating that we need “to take a leap in Gospel wisdom to overcome ... prejudices against our homosexual brothers”.  And now we get to the heart of of homily:
“From the perspective of faith when you look at homosexuality, you can’t say it’s a choice.  Choice is one thing that you freely choose and no one chooses orientation.  One day the person finds out with this or that orientation.  Choice will be the way you will live your orientation.  Whether in a dignified, ethical, or in a promiscuous way.  But promiscuity can be lived in any of the orientations one has.  So since it is not choice, since it is not an option, since the World Health Organization, since the 90’s no longer considers it as an illness, from the perspective of faith, we have only one answer.  If it is not a choice, if it is not an illness, from the perspective of faith, it can only be a gift.  It is given by God.  This is a gift: it is given by God.  There’s no other way!  If it is not a choice, if it is not a disease, it is a gift, it is given by God.”

Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos ends his homily with the example of Francis quoting him “If a person is homosexual and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge?”  And follows that up with the command Francis gave, “Don’t marginalize them but integrate them into [the Church]” and how “mercy” is the most important thing in the church the catechism teaches this.  Lastly, he retells the story of Francis’ private audience with Neria ‘Diego’ Lejárraga (a female who believes she is a man) and her fiance.

In conclusion, Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos misrepresents the teachings of the Church — through its catechism and Bible — concerning one of the four ‘Sins which cry out to Heaven for vengeance’.  It’s enough to make us at Call Me Jorge... wonder if he is of the homosexual inclination himself.  Anyway you slice it, Antônio Carlos Cruz Santos is just preaching what his boss, Francis, believes and it isn’t Catholic!

    1. They're not Catholic clergy because their orders are extremely doubtful.
Only Sedevacantist and SSPX clergy have 100% valid orders.
(And the Duarte-Costa line clergy, some of whom are traditional Catholics.)

    2. According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, homosexual proclivities are a disorder which has psychological roots within a person. A disorder is not a disease, but a fault line within one's psyche. As a result of original sin, each human being has fault lines (read disorders) within them. None but the blessed Mother are exempt from this. Let is for this reason we need a Redeemer and we need the supernatural strength of the Mass and the Sacraments. One way of describing Francis bishops is to observe that in all they say, there is no alliance with the supernatural. We see it again here in this bishop's illogic.

  3. May St. Dymphna, patron of the mentally insane, in the name of Jesus Christ, heal the mind of this fallen shepherd before he destroys the lives of poor blind sheep.

One day "in 1988, then-priest Raymond Cepeda threw Timothy Ryan Shiroma, then around age 9, to a basilica office floor and got on top of him, according to Shiroma's lawsuit. When Shiroma began to cry, Cepeda allegedly unzipped a backpack, pushed Shiroma’s head inside and sexually assaulted him."

On another day "Priest and scoutmaster Louis Brouillard is claimed to have raped and molested a victim identified only as A.N.D. during Boy Scout summer jamboree campouts in 1974 and 1975, starting the abuse when A.N.D was about 11. A.N.D. also says in his lawsuit that two other scout leaders then took turns raping him after he told Brouillard he was going to report him."

Leftwing media hailed Shanley in the 1970s as the “hippie priest” who argued that - quote - “homosexuality is a gift from God and should be celebrated." ... According to Bill Donohue, Shanley said in 1977 that when an adult has sex with a child, “the adult is not the seducer—the kid is the seducer”. [In 2017 Gloria TV did a smug report on "The Tragic Life of Ex Priest Paul Shanley" sort of like a smug report by Germans on "the tragic life of ex Fuehrer Adolf Hitler"--the Jews would have a fit, but don't see any Catholic having a fit about the tragedy being EX Fadder Paul---not the victims! Fadder Pell is h(z)ero!]

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if more than half the reason P6 and all the rest up to and including St. Gallen's Mafia are destroying the church is because they hate the church since they too were raped as children (or let themselves be abused for money because they were poor and greedy) by 'priests' and this is their revenge.

  5. Wen the day comes and they start preaching homosexuality is ok to practice or allow gay marriages in the Catholic Church this is when I leave. I would be saying to me what's in the bible (10 Commandments) and other teaching are there to change after all this time because of people's choices. It's similar to saying Nazi holocaust didn't happen. Gay marriage is a license to practice sodomy. I just want to end this by saying I don't hate the gays just don't push lifestyle on me or my circle. I love you and you are unique with a certain struggle to triumph over.

    1. If you could actually "leave" then you don't understand what the Church is to begin with.

The Church has always had rotten bishops and priests from the start (Judas?).

What gets me is that this fag "shepherd" is in "full communion." When Christ finally decides to purge His bride, it will be a sight to behold.

  8. Who knew! None of the apostles for sure or the saints or even mankind for these thousands of years! But I guess if you were a sodomite for some reason or other you might claim the perversion as a 'gift'?

  9. How purported catholics can disregard so strongly the Bible and St Paul epistles:
" Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who PRACTICE HOMOSEXUALITY, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

" Now the works of the flesh are evident: SEXUAL IMMORALITY, IMPURITY, SENSUALITY, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, ORGIES, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."

"For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God."

Remember the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah.

  10. Homosexuality or nymphomania or other irregular sexual conditions is not a gift. However, the important thing is that one should not allow desires to determine our actions. For a Catholic, it is Christ and his solid teachings that should mould our lives.

  12. The eternal teaching of the Universal Church is that homosexuality is a grave and intrinsic disorder. This teaching will never change in the Catholic Church founded by, and guided by, Jesus Christ. These evil remarks, made by a deliberately misdirected Brazilian bishop, are heretical.I will continue to pray for the bishop's conversion, that he does appropriate penance - and that he will resign from the Episcopacy, lest he continue to pervert Catholic teaching - and, subsequently, pervert the proper understanding of the Christian Faith to the Catholic Faithful.

Finally, and by his comments, this Brazilian "bishop" is exposing his own proclivities....
